Who's going to pay for this!?!

Planning your wedding can be difficult. Especially when it comes to the budgeting. You may not be able to do everything on your own, and asking for help-especially financial help- can be hard. While you may already be struggling through the processes, other people may feel that because they are helping you pay for something (even the tiniest thing), that they are entitled to dictate how the money is spent. There’s nothing more aggravating (and somewhat humiliating) than hearing: “well I’m paying for it!!” or “…and who’s going to pay for that!?!” It takes the fun out of shopping for what should be one of the happiest days of a person’s life.

To help you along your way, I’ve found a TRADITIONAL list of responsibilities that will maybe take the stress out of getting things together. Keep in mind, this list can be re-arranged to accommodate ANY family structure, or personal preference. It is just to guide you along a very taboo topic.

A good way to determine what your total wedding budget could be, is to think of your monthly finances as a couple. How much can each of you realistically afford to put aside every month? Remember that your wedding is another type of celebration of your Faith, Family, and Friends! Even if you opt to include using your wedding as a networking opportunity, it should never take precedence over your other living expenses. You can make a beautiful and memorable presentation without putting yourself and your new husband into debt.

To get an idea of what you have to work with, add your individual numbers together, then, multiply by the number of months until your wedding. If you have any financial gifts from friends and/or family, add them in AFTER you’ve calculated you and your fiancé’s couple’s budget. This number is your realistic wedding budget.

Send feedback if there's anything you need, or would like to see!

Happy Wedding!!
